The Stringing Room offers a full restringing service, combined with the option of re-gripping, grip enlargement, grommet strip replacement and racquet customisation.
Based in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, The Stringing Room is run by Richard Davies; an ex-Avon county tennis player and stringer with 30 years stringing and customising experience.
Richard is a Professional Stringer with the UKRSA (UK Racquet Stringers Association), and is believed to be the youngest person to achieve the USRSA's (United States Racquet Stringers Association) Certified Racquet Technician (now Master Racquet Technician) status back in 1996 at age 20. He is also a member of the ERSA (European Racquet Stringers Association).
In 1993, the certification of Certified Racquet Technician (CRT) was launched with the racquet sports industry lined up solidly behind the program, all lending full support to this leading-edge program and its on-going consumer education drive. Racquet technicians who pass the CRT/MRT certification exam are considered the best in the business. The CRT/MRT logo contains the phrase “The Symbol of Excellence in Racquet Service,” and that is embodied with our technicians. The exam requires all the knowledge and skills for our other certifications plus even more. It is the highest certification and is held in the highest regard worldwide. This is mirrored by the UK Racquet Stringers Association.
Richard can advise players at any level should they need guidance with their racquet from the restring, to replacing grommets, professionally enlarging grip sizes, applying grips, and customising frames too. He will attend to your racquet's needs at his premises in Weston-super-Mare. Richard also services the surrounding areas of Bristol, Taunton, Bridgwater, Wells, Wedmore, Burnham-on-Sea, Winscombe, Wrington, Brent Knoll, Cheddar, Portishead, Clevedon, Yatton, Nailsea, Congresbury, Langford, Winscombe and Shepton Mallet.
Your racquet will be restrung to your desired tension with your favourite string, re-gripped with your chosen grip or have your grommets replaced, have your grip size enlarged; whatever you need.
All services are provided on-site at the drop off and collection point with a usual turnaround time of 24 hours. Customers are not charged for the fitting of grips, grip enlargement, grommet strips or badminton eyelets - it is all part of the service.
Your racquet will be strung using the Wilson Baiardo Electronic Stringing machine (as pictured on the home page). This is the world class stringing machine as used to string the world's best players' rackets at grand slams such as the US Open.
